Mended Heart Pendant...

I designed the Mended Heart Pendant as a symbol of strength - because the heart is still whole, it's even stronger, and it has more character than just a plain, old heart would.

I designed it because I thought it could represent the people in your life that helped mend a broken heart - by being there. By bringing you soup. By asking if you're okay...for just letting you be.

I designed it because the quote:

Perhaps strength doesn't reside in having never been broken, but in the courage required to grow strong in the broken places.

I had posted this picture of the Mended Heart with this quote on Facebook:

and I had over two dozen requests to put the heart on a presentation card - much like our Mother&Daughter Pendant sets - so that it would really encompass the sentiment of the piece when given as a gift.

So, I did:

This makes me really happy.  Not only is the presentation card a lovely way to gift this piece (it also comes in a pretty, black satin Pretty Peacock pouch), you can put the display-worthy quote somewhere that you'll run across it every day (like the desk drawer? or bathroom mirror?).

We all have bruises. We have all had heartbreak in one form or another (or all forms!)'s nice to have a little something to hang onto to make you embrace all of your experiences.

Don't you think?

2014...Word of the Year

So, I'm know this post should have probably gone up on January 1st...buttttttt, it didn't.

I'm a little slow to start with the kids not going back to school until the 6th, the studio move, and general winding down and working-on-ramping-back-up after a tremendous holiday season.

The end of the year is always a whirlwind at the nest because once we get all those holiday orders out the door...another pile is already accumulating.

Don't get me wrong - I am so, amazingly excited about all the growth Pretty Peacock is's freaking awesome.

But it makes it absolutely imperative for me to make a constant effort to carve out time to reflect and plan.

Which brings me to the topic of this post: WORD OF THE YEAR.

Since early 2013, My lovely production manager and I have been throwing this idea around about having a 'goal word' - something like a mantra...a word that you focus on as a 'theme' of sorts for the year.

The Silk Wrapped Soul Bracelets are the perfect accessory to choose one of our available words, or have a custom one made to suit your needs.

My word for 2014: UNBREAKABLE

Why?  A couple of years ago, I kind of broke.  I felt broken.  Things in my life were unraveling and that lack of control really pushed me into a dark place and for the first time, I felt broken.

My word for 2013 was RENEWAL.  I had to re-evaluate pretty much everything and push through a lot of muck.  I found myself again...or maybe I found a better self.

This year, 2014, I'm just armoring myself up.  I'm finding that strength I know I have in buckets and going after everything I want.

There is so much value and meaning and motivation in carrying 'your word' with you.  It's a constant reminder to focus on your goals - even if you're not wearing the bracelet...just seeing it on the dresser in the morning and again in the evening is exactly what you need to get your head straight.

Tell me what your word is for 2014 and why...let's root each other on!!

Latitude Longitude Personalized Pendant

I created this little video to talk about one of 2013's best sellers - our Latitude Longitude Personalized Pendant.

I love the design of this piece - and the sentiment...well, that geeky/sweet subtlety is my favorite!

I think one of things that really makes me feel awesome about my Latitude/Longitude collection is when my customers tell me a little bit about why this is the perfect piece for them.  I have heard stories about loved ones' ashes being scattered in the middle of the ocean - but they happened to have the coordinates of where the boat was docked when the ashes were released.  Or, how an adoptive mom purchased the pendant for her daughter with the coordinates of where she had adopted her daughter from and then the coordinates of her new home - so that she'll always remember where she came from.  There are also the many, many, many super awesome destination wedding sites, alma maters, and "where I first met you" locations...ooohhhh be still my heart! The romantic-ness (is that a word??) is unreal.

I feel truly blessed to be doing what I'm doing - I get to flex my creative muscle every, single day.  And the kicker is that I get to create pieces of jewelry that bring a smile to someone's face.  And that, right there, makes my soul happy.
