Peacock Themed Weddings...

The pride of the peacock is the Glory of God. ~ William Blake

The gemstone-rich colors, the elegant lines, the whimsical flow...there is a good reason why all-things-peacock are a huge trend for weddings.

Not only does the peacock symbolize good luck, awakening, vision, royalty, refinement and a bunch of other super-awesome stuff, that bird is just flat out breath-taking, so it's a perfect choice for anything wedding related.

I picked out some of my favorite peacock wedding lovelies...

Peacock Feather boutonnieres from Rationale.  It's so important to find a well-made peacock-feather accessory. So many are not created with quality materials and can fall apart on you on your big day.
Rationale wraps their feathers tightly and you can see the care that went into creating these perfect details.

Oh my yummy is this???!  Created by Mermaids Dream, a silky clutch for the bride and her girls - something that everyone can still hang onto and enjoy long after the big day is over.

Wedding favors!!  These are magnets created by Stuck Together Magnets and they are PERSONALIZED!!

Here's another fun idea: hang these beautiful peacock tags by Anista Designs onto some decorative branches (maybe as a table setting?) and guests can write their good wishes to the bride and groom...a "wish tree"!!

And a little bling for the big day - this clasp-less peacock feather pendant by The Pretty Peacock can be customized with your wedding colors, the bride and groom's birthstone, or created with just some clear sparkle.

Year of the Dragon...2012 Chinese New Year...

Chinese New Year is one of the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. Doors and windows are covered in red, themes of wealth and longevity, and, of course, good fortune in general is wished and bestowed to all.  Everyone gets together for a big feast of pig, duck and delicacies on the Eve of the New Year.

2012 is the year of the dragon and that's a pretty big deal.  Well, at least in my opinion.

The dragon (in Eastern philosophy) represents power, strength, wisdom, and good fortune.  It is actually the deliverer of such things.

Some characteristics of the dragon personality are:

  • Innovative
  • Enterprising
  • Flexible
  • Self-assured
  • Brave
  • Passionate
  • Conceited
  • Tactless
  • Scrutinizing
  • Unanticipated
  • Quick-tempered

The characteristics are further broken down by the element you were born under: metal, air, fire, or water. You can find more info on this stuff here.

In honor of Chinese New Year, The Pretty Peacock is offering the entire Sweet Fortune ~ Fortune Cookie pendants for 15% off until January 31st.

These have been newly designed and come in 3 different versions.  Our V3 version allows you to write in your own fortune and comes in a super cute kit!

This would be the most memorable way to announce that your mom is about ready to be a grandma, or to ask your bestie to be your Maid of Honor, or to congratulate that special graduate...the possibilities are endless!

Check out the collection and let us know what you think!
Copper cookies coming soon!!! :)  Healing AND super cute??? Will wonders never cease?

Welcome 2012!

"Yodha" ~ Sanskrit Warrior Pendant with Garnet Gemstone
I am one of those people who play music in my head all the time. I have that 'soundtrack to my life' thing that Ellen DeGeneres has - so I'm know I'm not alone in this weirdness (and if you don't know what that is, I'm super sad for you right now).

When the final days of 2011 were creeping in, the song "I am the Warrior" by Pat Benatar (yes, that's right) popped into my head.  Here it is for your listening pleasure:

I feel more fired up about life then I ever did in my twenties and that may just be because I'm getting older and I have to fit all the gillion things I want to do and accomplish before I simply cannot.

I love it when a new year rolls around. I relish in the notion that a new year breathes new life into the status quo - even though it is just another day.

So, I am excited that we are now into the 3rd day of a brand new year and look forward to all the growth, wisdom, experiences, and pleasures & pains that another year of life will bring me.  I hope you are, too.
